How we restore a lamp We keep the body and renew the workings. Take the lamp apart to see which parts we keep and which we replace. Loading the lamp… Different bodies. The same care. Murano glass Blown glass Studio pottery Oil lamp Choose a view. Then explore the parts. 01 Object 02 Body 03 Inside The lamp Why a lamp is worth saving. A lamp is worth saving for its body: the glassmaker’s shape or the potter’s glaze. Use the buttons above to take it apart. What we keep The body stays as it was made. The glassmaker’s work stays: the color, the shape, the detail. We keep the body exactly as it is and take out the old wiring and fittings. What we renew New fittings and wiring. The glass or ceramic stays. Solid-brass fittings, a new socket and new wiring make the lamp work again. Illustrated cutaway ← All parts 01 / 07 ← → Hover to identify. Select to look closer. Questions Frequently asked questions. Anything else, about a piece, a delivery or a search, just ask. [email protected] ↗ What work do you do on each lamp? + We keep the lamp’s original body, whether glass, pottery or metal, exactly as it is. Then we do whatever it needs to work properly, usually replacing the old wiring and fittings with solid-brass hardware, new sockets and new wiring.Every lamp we sell is in working order and ready to use, and its listing says exactly what we replaced and what’s original. Do lamps come with a shade and bulb? + It depends on the lamp. Each listing says whether a shade and bulb are included, and photos taken with a shade we don’t include are marked as styling. How does shipping work? Can I collect a piece? + We pack every lamp by hand, wrapped in bubble wrap and secured in its box so it can’t shift in transit. Orders ship from Southern California within 1–2 business days, insured for the full value of the piece, and the full price including shipping is shown at checkout. Delivery times depend on where it’s going and the time of year.Large, heavy and delicate pieces can be expensive to ship at standard rates. If the shipping at checkout is more than you’d like to pay, email us before you buy. We can sometimes find a different carrier, a slower service or a more flexible timeline that brings the cost down. Local pickup in Southern California and international delivery can be arranged the same way.More on our shipping and returns page. Can you find a lamp I can’t see in the shop? + Yes. Send a sourcing request describing what you want, or point us to a piece in our archive. We agree the scope, price and shipping with you before we start searching. Can you restore a lamp I already own? + No. We only restore the lamps we sell, and we don’t take in customers’ lamps for repair. How do you know who made a lamp? + We name a maker only when a mark, label or document confirms it. When a lamp only resembles a maker’s work, we describe it as “in the style of” that maker and claim nothing more. Can I return a piece? + Yes. You have 10 days after your piece arrives to request a return, and it needs to come back in the condition you received it. Email us before sending anything back; you pay the return shipping. The full returns policy covers refunds and damage in transit.
